Brand New For Me
Hi everyone! Here is my 49th poem, Brand New For Me. Hope you all enjoy! 😁
DEAR LIFE,
How I would love
To climb a 1000 foot precipice
And meet you
Just to know
Your glittering, shining
Secrets
Whispered in my ear,
Coming in,
But never coming out.
‘O, how I hope one of
Those secrets
Is about
Having two lives,
Because I’d jump off that cliff
For my next life
Just to show
My trust
In you.
I can clearly imagine,
When I fall
Tumbling towards the raging river
With monsters of a colossal size
And razor sharp rocks
Ready to split my flesh.
I would close my eyes
And feel a force
Slowing my fall.
And when I open my eyes…
I’d be
Staring at the world
All brand new

I love that this poem is expressing such a desperate need to prove one’s self. The intensity of feelings expressed are surprising only to an adult, but if we could take a leaf from this poets work and time travel, we would witness that indeed only the young can feel and express with such abandon. And yet, as if a window into survival instinct of this poet, he ask’s for an additional life, just so he can face the precipice, but also enjoy the fruits of the bravery
Thank you so much for sharing your inner light with the world! I am so glad to have met you and to have the opportunity to read your poetry! This poem about your dance and conversation with life makes me very glad that you have discovered David Whyte, another kindred spirit for you :-)
